Anyway, that post has - in the space of two days - eclipsed the book schedule in terms of total hits. At least as far as Wordpress stats are concerned (I haven't looked at Google yet.) Stumbleupon is driving most of that and it's driving me crazy that I can't trace it back. Seriously. This is all I get. Why can't you just link me to the damn post? I know there are posts, I managed to find it when the icon site was on there. That kind of behavior pretty much guarantees that not going to install your thingee.

Docs came yesterday. They fit, but I forgot how much of a bitch breaking in those damn things can be. Owwie.

Oh, BoingBoing. You are not my favorite blog, and I skim you out of blogger obligation more than anything else. I find Xeni annoying and Cory overly self-promotional and/or shrill. I know who Violet Blue is only sort of vaguely, and mainly because of the aforementioned BB-skimming. (Though I think I did have her confused with Diablo Cody, back before Cody actually became a real - sort of - celebrity.) Despite all that, I don't really hate the site. But man, this whole brouhaha is kind of hilarious in the way that news posts are hilarious - or how they would be if LJers were in a bit higher typing class. (Also, really weird to consider how old my MeFi account is. It used to be my first stop, sniff. What happened?)

So we're finally getting those torrential midwest rains and I discover that my beloved Docs have split right along the sole for about three inches. They're at least four years old (probably older - I believe my mother bought them for me, which probably means I hadn't moved out yet...) but damn it, I don't really have any other shoes suitable for puddles. Or stomping on things.

They don't make that exact model (pair?) anymore but I found something pretty similar on Zappos.com. And by the time they get here it'll probably be dry (well, as dry as it ever gets here in Humidia) and sunny. Oh well. At least I'll have Docs. Here's hoping they fit.

I've also gotten back into the incense thing. I have a package of the Indian temple stuff that I've had for a couple years now. (When I was unpacking, it actually stunk up an entire room while still unopened. It's hardcore.) And I bought a cheapie incense burner as the one I have is silver and I'm too lazy to polish it. Alas, the cheap one is crap and points the sticks at a seriously wacko angle that sends falling ash all over the table. So I should probably have spent that $2 on silver polish after all.

Ahh, Flickr. I will never forsake you again, unless the POS LJ system is ever fixed to the point where it's worth the trouble of screwing with. Yesterday I uploaded my DragonCon pics. It's only been almost a year! (Yes, the reunion will be up soonish, Sara.)

After several days of being nothing but a sweet kitty and getting lots of scratchies, Murphy hissed at me again. This is after he got squash (though it wasn't cold, so he only ate half and Ripley got the rest) and begged/demanded that I brush him. I don't even know.

I'm almost done with season 2 of The Tudors, though. Only three episodes left before Anne gets her head chopped off!

1. Had a pleasant evening at princesschan's, playing a very old version of Scruples (hilarious!) with pals old and new and getting my monthly requirement of secondhand smoke. (Don't question.)

2. Less pleasant? The fact that motherloving I-75 down to Monroe was closed. MDOT, have you not tormented me enough with the Gateway Project? HAVE YOU NO HUMAN DECENCY?

3. Murphy has not hissed again. I'm still not his daddy, but I think he likes that I have nails now. Also, he got squash two days in a row, which pleases him.

4. I'm starting a new concept art feature on CJ. Nothing huge, just a wee bit of content that people will like (hopefully) and to fill in on a slow day. The first will post later this morning, and I even got a father's day theme in, sort of, in a morbid sort of way. (Well, it is SW.) I have enough on my hard drive for several weeks worth of content, but still, all the more reason to hook up the scanner. There's a new poll over there, too, which will stay up until the reason for its existence is void. (Sigh.)

And I'm using part of it so armaphine and I can go see Obama on Monday!

But they totally should have gone with Ford Field...

In other news, my parents hadn't even been gone a full day and Murphy hissed at me for not being his daddy. We'll see who's sorry once he's gone a full 48 hours without regular human contact. Or treats.

I am no longer a Forum Jedi at StarWars.com. I asked for the demod a couple of days ago and I made the decision months ago, so it's not like I wasn't expecting it, but it's kind of sad. The StarWars.com forums were my first real step back into mainstream fandom after the whole CPOV/Jedinet debacle. My account there (and the modship) predates my LJ, the CJ blog, the vast majority of my posts on TFN...

However, the worst part is I have to get used to reading the boards in the correct order. I only read like two threads anyway, and I keep forgetting to log in so I'm already halfway there, but all my bookmarks just became kinda useless. Oh noes!

Shocking (not really:) Motor City Comic Con is kind of sad. Now, granted, I'm old and jaded now, but even sleepy little GenCon is bustling compared to this thing.

The Good(ish): A lot of 501st/Rebel Legion people. At least, a lot more than I was expecting. I didn't go up and talk to anyone, because I don't actually know any of them and I'm shy like that. But hey, they were there, and had a bunch of stuff set up.

The Bad: Programming? Who needs programing? The program book had like 5 pages, and big margins. I wasn't expecting much, but still. I guess that kind of thing is what PenguinCon and ConFusion are for.

The Ugly: Rain. Seriously, we parked just as it started pouring. POURING. And I wore my tall jeans with my not-so-tall shoes. Bad move...

So yeah, it's not the 90's, when the publishers would show up (I remember checking out a B&W proof of one of the final issues of Sandman at the Vertigo booth, and also we were going to heckle Rob Liefeld at Image, but of course we didn't) and we got actual goodie bags and princesschan would spend her stepfather's money on Sailor Moon bootlegs. Oh well.

But I did finally get to see armaphine's new place, and it is bitching. A++ would nap again.
